Ranchi, Feb.27: BJP legislature party chief and former chief minister Babulal Marandi today accused Hemant Soren and his government of using their caste status as a shield to hide corruption.
“They have nothing to do with tribal religion and culture. They use their caste only to escape by claiming to be a tribal when caught,” Marandi said.
Marandi’s statement came after the party’s legislators’ meeting at the BJP state headquarters in Harmu.
Before giving the concluding remarks he gave justification.
“Hemant Soren, who boasts of being a well-wisher of tribals and natives every day, has called an assembly session from February 27 to March 24. On March 24, there is a great festival of the tribal, Sarhul. Now what is the justification to hold the session on the occasion of this great festival,” he said.
Marandi said that the state government has made the state devoid of recruitment policy.
“There is a flaw in the policy and intention of the state government. Their intention is not clear. They have only cheated the youth in the name of 1932. After the Governor’s remarks, they should not refrain from taking advice from expensive lawyers and legal luminaries even after paying crores of fees,” he said.
Marandi said that corruption is at its peak in the state. “The corrupt have the protection of power. That’s why the state government did not file cases against senior IAS officer Pooja Singhal even after the ED’s action. A few days ago, Chief Engineer Virendra Ram, arrested in ED’s action, is the latest example of not taking action even after the ACB’s recommendation,” he said.
Describing corruption, he said that in a state where people yearn for basic facilities, drinking expensive company water from the earnings of corruption, misusing branded clothes is the culmination of corruption.
Speaking on the collapsed law and order system of the state, he said that the BJP is constantly raising its voice against it. Now, after the brutal murder of the MLA representative of Barkagaon, the ruling Congress MLAs and leaders have also put the state government in the dock.
