Ranchi, Dec.14: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has sought co-operation from the union railway minister to stop illegal mining in Jharkhand.
A letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav written today suggests so.
“The involvement of railway officials reflects in promotion of illegal mining in Jharkhand and under a conspiracy JIMMS portal of Jharkhand state is not being integrated with FIOS and transportation of mineral wealth is being done either without challan or with a fake challan,” Soren has said in his letter to the union railway minister seeking his co-operation in probe.
Chief Minister Soren has also requested the union railway minister to direct their officers to integrate JIMMS with FIOS to ensure that minerals are not transported from Jharkhand without a valid challan issued by the state government.
JIMMS is the abbreviation of Jharkhand Integrated Mines and Minerals Management System through which online permits and e-challan are issued after online payment and verification of all documents. It helps reduce illegal mining. JIMMS is integrated with VAHAN portal to ensure proper vigilance on transportation of minerals by road but has yet to be integrated with FIOS, which is the abbreviation of The Freight Operations Information System.
