Ranchi, July 29: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren participated in the 73rd Statewide Forest Festival 2022 organized by Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department in Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Complex.

On this occasion, CM said that the department should issue toll-free numbers in case of forest fires so that common people can inform the officials of the forest department without delay.

“Arrangements should be made so that people can complain about tree felling to fire and other activities in the forests to the officers of the department,” the CM said.

He added that for forest conservation, technologes, as well as manual power, should be used.

“Water, forest, land is the existence of the people of Jharkhand. Their protection is the moral responsibility of all of us. It can be said with certainty that if there is a tree then there is life,” he added.

He also mentioned that at present, while touching the heights of development, the environment is getting destroyed. We cannot draw the line of development by harming the environment. There are many schemes including road widening, construction of factories, urbanisation, and reservoir construction which leads to the cutting of trees.

The Jharkhand CM said that the state government has announced to provide 5 units of electricity per tree free of cost to those who plant trees on their campuses in urban areas.
