Jharkhand: CoBRA jawans kill 5 top Maoists in Chatra in encounter

Ranchi, April 3: the CoBRA battalion of CRPF engaged in anti-naxal operation in Jharkhand had an encounter with Maoists on Palamu-Chatra border, about 100km from the state capital. A police official said as many as five Maoists, including a top commander were killed in the encounter. Apart from this, the police official said, a huge quantity of items for the use of Maoists was also recovered.

Official confirmation of the incident is awaited as I.G (operation) A.V.Homkar, is authorized to make any statement in this regard

A police official said extremists killed in the encounter include SAC Commander Gautam Paswan, Ajit Oraon alias Charlies, Sub Zonal Commander Amar Ganjhu, Nandu and Sanjit Bhuiyan. “There is a reward of Rs 25 lakhs for SAC commanders and five lakhs for sub-zonal commanders,” the police official said.

The police official said: “Two AK 47, one INSAS and two regular rifles were also recovered from the spot.”
