Ranchi, July 29: Congress party has started conducting interviews like recruitment agencies to appoint deserving congressmen for the post of district presidents across the state.
This was reflected when such an interview was organised at the party office in Ranchi. The interview board comprised Jharkhand in-charge Avinash Pande, state president Rajesh Thakur, Congress legislator party chief Alamgir Alam, executive president Bandhu Tirkey among others.
Candidates were asked questions related to party organisation like ‘when the congress party was established’, ‘whether the ideology of the congress party and Gandhi is the same’, ‘why you want to become district president’, ‘how will you strengthen the party online and offline if given responsibility of district president’, ‘how many new members you brought for the party during membership campaign’ besides others.
There were around 120 candidates who were shortlisted for the interview. Each candidate is being given four to five minutes for the interview.
Party’s state spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan said after the selection list will be sent to the national general secretary of the party, K C Venugopal. The final list will be released after his approval. It is expected by the end of August, he said.
Ranjan said that in every district, applications for the post of district president had come in big numbers but five candidates were shortlisted based on their performance in the party and knowledge of the district.
An insider said that the entire exercise was done to strengthen the party.
