Dhanbad, May 18: The Congress minority cell has demanded fielding a Muslim candidate from the alliance in the ensuing Rajya Sabha election in the state.
Congress minority cell state vice-president Abdul Karim Ansari has said that since earlier Shibu Soren of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was given the Rajya Sabha seat from the alliance, this time the first seat should be given to Congress. The Congress Party should nominate a Muslim Candidate.
He said that in the last Lok Sabha election, no Muslim candidate was given a Congress ticket on any of the 14 seats. Though the party had given a ticket to Sahjada Anwar in the Rajya Sabha election on the second seat, that was not winnable.
“Muslim community is being ignored in Hemant Soren-led state government. Not a single board has been constituted so that minority community members get a berth. Minority Commission, Minority Finance Commission, Madarsa Board, Sunni Waqf Board, and Urdu Academy are without heads. Resentment is prevailing among minority members,” said Abdul Karim Ansari.
Minority cell vice-president has requested Congress state president Rajesh Thakur to get the formation of boards as soon as possible as delayed has triggered resentment among Muslims. He said the further delay may affect the Congress party in the coming elections.
