Jharkhand Congress prefers Rahul Gandhi as national president

Ranchi, Sept 20: The Jharkhand Congress on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution to support Rahul Gandhi as the national president of the party. The decision was taken at a conference of newly appointed delegates at Morhabadi in the state capital.

 

State in-charge Avinash Pandey, who was on a two-day visit, presided over the meeting that saw Congress leaders and workers of the state wanting the leadership of Gandhi. The state Congress committee also authorised current national president Sonia Gandhi to appoint Jharkhand Congress State President, State Officer and AICC Member.

 

A resolution was passed unanimously to make Rahul Gandhi the national president of Congress again. Avinash Pandey, briefing about the meeting, said that the information was given about how the complete journey of Bharat Jodo Yatra will go ahead.

 

At the same time, every state representative took a pledge that his responsibility and accountability would be towards the party works and would complete these under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

 

State Congress President Rajesh Thakur said that Rahul Gandhi will lead the All India Congress Committee. “It was a unanimous decision. We see Rahul Gandhi as a universal leader and he should be ready for the post of the president. This decision will give a boost to the party,” said Thakur.

 

At the same time, Congress leader Alok Dubey said that only Rahul Gandhi should be elected for the post of president, apart from this, no other leader will be accepted by the Jharkhand Congress.

 

On the same day, resolutions were passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and Maharashtra Congress to make Rahul Gandhi the national president of the party.

 

Earlier, the State Congress Committees of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have passed a resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to lead.

 

On Monday, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor met party President Sonia Gandhi and conveyed his desire to contest, while on the other hand Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is also indicating the possibility of entering the electoral battle.
