Ranchi, Sept 21: A huge demonstration was organized by the State Congress OBC Morcha led by Abhilash Sahu near the Raj Bhavan, demanding the implementation of 27% reservation for the backward castes in Jharkhand without any delay.
During this, Congress state president Rajesh Thakur accused the state BJP leaders for doing politics in the name of OBC reservation. He said that the way the Congress party has taken initiative towards giving 27% reservation to OBCs, BJP state president Deepak Prakash and all the BJP leaders are getting nervous. The double engine government did not even take any initiative in the direction of giving reservation to the backward classes. Congress has always raised its voice regarding their reservation. In the past too, an initiative was taken by the Congress by filing a petition in the Supreme Court, Thakur said.
He said that the government of Congress, JMM and RJD led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren is in favor of giving 27% reservation to OBCs. He said that soon our government will take an initiative on this. All Congressmen, including ministers, Banna Gupta, Badal Patralekh, MLAs Deepika Pandey Singh, Pradeep Yadav were present in this demonstration.
Regarding the demand for 27% reservation for OBCs, Health Minister Banna Gupta said that it is the right of the OBCs; they cannot be deprived of this right. He said that the Congress party strongly supports OBCs’ 27% reservation demand. “Our government will soon get a resolution passed by the House and send it to the Centre,” he said.
During this, Banna Gupta also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Prime Minister raises the slogan of OBCs from time to time, calling himself the son of OBC and keeps his words in front of the people of the country. But they keep this thing at the time of election. His slogan disappears as soon as the election is over. It is clear that the love of BJP for the OBCs is nothing more than just an election issue, he added.
Congress MLA cum AICC secretary Deepika Pandey Singh said that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das come from OBC category but till date they have not taken any initiative on it.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam gave a positive reply to his demand during the budget session. He had said that the government of the Grand Alliance is fully in support of this. The BJP did not allow the monsoon session to run, otherwise today there would have been a big initiative on the 27% reservation of OBCs in the state.
Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav said that the BJP and the AJSU are to be blamed if OBCs have not got reservation in the state in the last 20 years. Pradeep Yadav said that today when our alliance government is taking initiative on giving 27% reservation to OBCs, then BJP is trying to take credit for our initiative.
