Ranchi, Jan 5: Jharkhand has crossed the national growth rate of corona infection where the national 7 days growth rate remained at 0.06% and the same for the state is at 0.30%.

A total of 2,681 new cases were added as of January 4, taking the total number of cases in the state to 5,218. The number of active cases in Ranchi is 2,217 which is the highest among the 24 districts of the state. Other districts with a high number of cases are East Singhbhum (568), Dhanbad (443), Koderma (403) and Bokaro (328).

As of January 4, a total of 56,172 samples were collected from across the state out of which 55,010 were tested. As many as 216 patients recovered from the Covid-19 infection across the state.

Ranchi Civil Surgeon Dr Vinod Kumar said that people need to take precautionary measures very seriously to stop the burst of Covid cases in Jharkhand.

“The government has imposed curbs to stop gathering of persons but the shops are allowed to operate till 8 pm which should have been shifted to 6 pm in the evening as that is the time in winters when there is huge gathering in the markets,” Kumar said.

Expressing concern over the increasing cases, he appealed to people of the state to use masks and follow the social distancing norms at all times.

He also appealed to the people of the state to get vaccinated as soon as possible so that the state can achieve the 100% vaccination mark by January 15.

“Parents of the teenagers should also encourage their children to take vaccines and participate in defeating the corona,” Kumar added.
