Ranchi, May 16: State finance minister and a former IPS officer Rameshwar Oraon on Monday talked about the relevance of Buddhism in modern days.
Oraon was addressing a programme the Chotanagpur Buddhist Society (CBS) had organized to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha at Buddha Temple at Gorkha Chow in Doranda in the capacity. He was the chief guest of the programme.
“If the world follows the teachings of Lord Buddha, there will be no violence anywhere,” Oraon said, asking the audience to follow the thoughts and teachings of Buddha to establish peace and love across the world.
Earlier, Lamas performed the rituals. In the morning, Lugander was worshipped and as many as 108 lamps were lit. After the worship, Wang’s program was started which continued throughout the day.
CBS president SK Tamang said that this is the first Buddhist temple in Jharkhand, which was established in the year 1994 and since its establishment, Buddha Purnima was organized uninterrupted. During the lockdown due to the corona pandemic, last year the celebration remained limited to the performance of rituals but this year’s programme is being organized with pomp and show.
Senior state Congress leader Alok Kumar Dubey said that Lord Buddha was the 9th incarnation of Shri Hari Vishnu and hence there has been a tradition to celebrate this day as a special festival.
