Ranchi, April 12: Organised under the aegis of Van Vibhag Chalak Evam Computer Sangh, a section of daily wage labourers today staged a demonstration against the decision of outsourcing at Van Bhawan in Doranda.
The workers, who earn every month Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 working in the capacity of daily wage labour, anticipate a reduction in their income with the introduction of the new practice.
“After the introduction of the new system all daily waged workers will become employees of outsourced companies and the company will start exploiting them by paying less for more work and unlike the government take disciplinary action without any justified reasons taking advantage of poor financial capacity of the workers to contest legal battles. This will only pave the path of exploitation of workers and earnings of big companies,” an agitating worker said.
State president of the organisation Rajan Lal said the agitation will continue tomorrow.
“In case, cognizance is not taken of our agitation, we will stage an indefinite period hunger strike at the office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest,” Lal said.
A regular forest department employee said: “As many as 1000 daily waged employees work for the forest department across the state and in case the agitation continues there is every possibility of getting the work of forest department affected and for the state, which is committed to conservation of forest, it will be a matter of concern in days to come.”
