Dhanbad, Jan 11: The bike rider without a helmet would not get fuel at any petrol pump in the Dhanbad district for at least one week from today.
In wake of National Road Safety Week of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (January 11 to January 17), Coalfield Petroleum Dealers Association (CPDA) has resolved to strictly follow ‘no helmet no petrol’ to bike riders during the week in township, rural area and at GT Road (National Highway-2) of the district.
CPDA general secretary Sanjiv Rana said that a total of 70 refilling stations (petrol pumps) are functional in the Dhanbad district and all operators have unanimously decided to follow it for the safety of the people.
“Since it (Road Safety Week) is also a programme of the state government, CPDA has sought help from the district transport department and district administration in implementing the guidelines,” said Sanjiv Rana.
CPDA secretary said in the township people follow it easily but the major problem appears in implementing the guideline (No helmet no petrol to bike rider) in rural area-based petrol pumps where people especially drunk create law and order problems with staff.
CPDA said during safety week it has also been decided to avoid giving fuel to minor bike and car riders.
He said the safety guidelines would also be implemented strictly against bikes and vehicles on inter-state GT Road of the district by petrol pump operators.
