SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Dec 3: Jharkhand governor Ramesh Bais arrived here on Friday afternoon on a two-day visit to Jharia coal mines fire zone and to attend a private function.

The governor visited the Jharia Colliery area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and saw the status of the mines fire from ‘view point.’ He also visited the zero seam of the mines to see firsthand coal mining operations.

Though as per scheduled programme,  he had to stay in the Jharia coalfield for 2 hours, he cut short the programme and returned in 25 minutes.

Earlier, the governor was given a guard of honour at the circuit house. Besides district administration officials, Dhanbad sadar MLA Raj Sinha, Nirsa MLA Aparna Sengupta and  Registrar of the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhananjay Kumar Singh received him.

In an informal talk, the MLAs made the Governor aware about the problems of their constituency. The officials of the district administration said that the governor will also inaugurate heavy coal vehicles in the late evening and attend a marriage at Dhanbad Club at night.

This is the second visit of the Governor to Dhanbad in a fortnight. Earlier, he had come to attend the foundation day ceremony of Central Institute of Mineral Fuel Research (CIMFR) in the first week of November.
