Ranchi, Aug.3: The landless persons of Jharkhand will be given the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

State Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam informed this to the assembly while responding to a question from Mahagama MLA Dipika Pandey Singh.

He said those landless persons who are residing since before 1985 on the government land would be given the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by giving land. He said that in this regard, provisions have been amended through resolution number 6144 of the revenue, registration and land reforms department.

Alam said the approval of the chief minister has been obtained on the proposal to settle three decimal land to landless for the construction of a house. “Soon it will be approved by the cabinet,” he said.

According to the minister, till now, 2001 landless beneficiaries have been given the benefit of housing by settling the land.

MLA Dipika had raised questions over why the landless poor of the state are not getting the benefit of the Prime Minister’s house scheme. She pointed out that during the ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ Programme, the government had received applications from 7.5 lakh people for this but nothing has been done so far in this regard.

Replying to another question in the house, Transport Minister Champai Soren informed that High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) will be made available to the owners of old registered vehicles soon.

Champai Soren was responding to a short notice question of Congress MLA Purnima Neeraj Singh on the issue. He said that the matter is currently pending before the Arbitration Tribunal. The final order of the Tribunal is very near and it will be resolved soon thereafter.

MLA Purnima had questioned that high security number plates have been made mandatory for all vehicles manufactured after April 1, 2019, but before 2019, the online application on the authorized website for an HSRP number plate in private/public old vehicles registered was not taken. The people of Jharkhand are facing a lot of trouble due to this. In another state, fines are being collected from the vehicle owners of Jharkhand.

Earlier, during the question hour in the assembly, Minister Mithlesh Thakur got stuck on the question of MLA Pradeep Yadav related to the depletion of the groundwater level in the state.

Yadav said that the water level has depleted by 50 percent from its earlier depth in many districts of the state including Ranchi, where the water level has depleted by 15 meters. However, the minister denied the fact saying the government report does not suggest so.

The minister said the depletion of water level in Ranchi is just 2 meters and the state government has taken many measures to increase the water level. He said that there is no problem with drinking water.

On this, Yadav took strong exception and asked the minister whether the government has any report of the Central Ground Water Board. When the minister attempted to parry the reply, Yadav asked the speaker to direct the minister to be specific.

Challenging the minister’s reply, Yadav said he had a report of the Government of India and according to which the situation is alarming and sensing the gravity of the situation In Jharkhand in the year 2019, the work was started for the formulation of rules for groundwater conservation. He said that the whole world is worried about water and it is said that the third world war will be over water, but ministers are giving superficial answers on this subject in the house.
