Daltonganj, Aug 3: A suspected case of chickenpox has been found at Velwahi hamlet under the Chandwa block in Latehar district on Wednesday.
The medical officer in charge of the community health centre at Chandwa Dr N K Pandey said he reached this hamlet today and examined a 28-year-old man who is suspected to be a case of chickenpox.
“We have suggested a couple of tests on him. WHO field supervisor Satish has been informed of this suspected case of chickenpox,” Dr Pandey said.
WHO Palamu team is set to meet this suspected case on Thursday, August 4.
“Other family members of this man have no signs or symptoms of chickenpox at all,” reminded Dr Pandey.
He said the rashes are of almost a week old and the man has now no bout of fever nevertheless he will be put to pathological tests by the WHO.
A total of 23 people including children were examined by Dr N K Pandey and his team today.
Pandey said a child was found during the examination who had a highly contagious tinea infection. The child has no fever or rashes.
“We have asked the people to have proper hygiene and for the observance of the Covid appropriate behaviour,” the doctor said.
Despite words that a large number of people had fevers and rashes, Pandey said that this was not the case. “There were cases of cough and fever which were given the required medical attention,” Dr Pandey added.
