Ranchi, Jan.18: The state government has started approving applications for disbursement of ex-gratia to next of kin of Covid-19 victims in the state.

Secretary of the disaster management department, Amitabh Kaushal informed this to lagatar24.com saying that approximately 1,000 applications for compensation have been approved across the state and soon the disbursement will be started through the treasury.

Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan supported the development saying compensation has been sanctioned to as many as 160 while verification is underway to sanction the same to others.

The government has allotted Rs. 26.26 crore funds for those whose family members died of Covid-19 in the state.

As per the state health department, 5,209 persons have officially died of Covid-19 in the state, with Ranchi district leading the list with 1,595 deaths followed by East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) 1,082 deaths.

All DCs have been directed to take the onus and get the money distributed. These amounts would be transferred to the bank accounts of the victims’ family members or dependents. This is a small gesture of the state government to share the grief of the victims.

The government has asked the family members of the victims to apply for compensation with the circle office or online.
