Dhanbad, May 13: The State government has increased monthly honorarium of tutors, senior residents, junior residents and interns of medical colleges.
Additional chief secretary (ACS) health Arun Kumar Singh issued a notification in this regard, on Friday.
At present, a senior resident and tutor of the government-owned medical colleges get Rs 75,000 per month. But they would get Rs 80,000 in first year. Rs 82,000 in second year and Rs 85, 000 in third year.
Tutors and senior residents are appointed only for three years in medical colleges of the state.
Besides it, the health department has also revised the honorarium being paid to junior residents, academic and non-academic (PG), and junior residents MBBS (non-academic) of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad, Phulo Jhanho Medical College (PJMCH) Dumka, Mednirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu and Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital, Hazaribagh.
At present, a junior resident ( academic post graduate) draws Rs 41,000 per month but after revision now he would get Rs 54,000 in first year, Rs 58,000 in 2nd year and Rs 63,000 in third year. A junior resident (MBBS non- academic) would draw Rs 54,000 at MGMMCH Jamshedpur.
Similarly, junior residents of SNMMCH Dhanbad, PJMCH Dumka, SBMCH Hazaribagh and MMCH Palamu who draw Rs 41,000 per month now after revision they would get Rs 54,000.
“These revised honorarium would be paid to junior residents academic and non-academic who give an undertaking of not doing private practice,” said the ACS health, in his notification.
Singh admitted that honorarium of junior residents of five medical colleges is comparatively very much less their counterpart at Rajendra Institute of Medical Scienced (RIMS) Ranchi and they had given application for revision of the same.
In Bihar, post graduate (PG) students had been given honorarium of Rs 50,000 ( 1st year),Rs 55,000 ( 2nd year) and Rs 60,000 per month since 2017. But in 2020, the government revised it and increased Rs 68,545 (1st year), Rs 75,399 (2nd year) and Rs 81, 938.
The Health department has also increased monthly stipend of Interns of medical colleges hospitals from Rs 15,000 per month to Rs 17,000 per month.
