Ranchi, April 27: The plan to beautify the Sarna site here at Sirom Toli could not take off today as the locals protested against the project.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren had laid the foundation stone for the project on April 7, 2022 with a plan for construction of a five- storey building to showcase the tribal art and culture.
Following a dispute, the work could not be started. When the initiative was taken today and a district administration team reached to get the work started, locals protested and did not allow the work to get started.
A large number of tribal Sarna people under the leadership of landowner Sunita Hans and her family members assembled outside the Sarna site and asked the district administration to stop the work. Hans and family members claimed their right over the land.
Magistrate Ranchi Shiv Amit Bhagat and Police Officer Mamta Kumari were deputed at the site to ensure that no law-and-order problem takes place there.
