Ranchi, August 1: The state health department has transferred a medical officer (doctor) after 38 days of his demise on duty.
Dr Krishna Kumar, medical officer in-charge of Community Health Centre (CHC) Tandwa under Chatra district had died following cardiac arrest on June 23, 2023.
But in the mass transfer notification of (medical officers) doctors issued on July 31 by the Under Secretary of state government Family Health Welfare and Medical Education department Prabhunath Sharma, Dr Krishna Kumar has been transferred to Community Health Centre (CHC) Jaldega of Simdega district.
The family members of the late Dr Krishna Kumar became shocked and surprised in the morning today after finding his name in the transfer list of medical officers. The family members said that they had duly informed the health department about his death. But surprisingly, he was transferred on July 31, 38 days after his demise.
Dr Krishna Kumar (48) was a 2013 batch medical officer of the state health department. Though he had been serving the health department for a long time as a contractual doctor he was regularized in the job in 2013.
Following mass agitation of contractual doctors, in 2013 the then Health Minister late Rajendra Prasad Singh initiated steps and the government through a commission regularised them in the department.
Some medical officers have expressed resentment over the lapse of the health department which hurt the sentiments of medical officers as well as the family members of late Dr Kumar.
A medical officer said that the health department claims doctors sitting in one place for more than nine years have been transferred but even today some doctors have been sitting in Ranchi for one and half decades under the nose of the Health Minister and the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Health but they have not been touched.
They alleged that those who have approached higher-ups have been spared.
