Ranchi, Feb.6: The Jharkhand High Court today dismissed the appeal of the state government against a single bench order directing the government to make arrangements for rehabilitation of the shop owners associated with the Kutchery Market Shopkeepers Association.
A division bench headed by Justice S Chandrasekhar dismissed the appeal saying it was time barred as it was filed after 305 days of order. The bench, however, gave exemption to the state government to file a review petition in the matter.
The case arose after the state government gave direction to the shop owners to vacate the shop after expiry of settlement with Pandra Agricultural Market Committee in 2011 and the shop owners knocked the door of court for making arrangements for rehabilitation.
During hearing of the case by the single bench, the government expressed its inability to rehabilitate the shop owners as it had no scheme to rehabilitate them like vendors. The single bench after hearing pleas of all sides directed the state government to make arrangements for rehabilitation.
