Ranchi, April 18: Advisor to former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, Sunil Tiwary, who had landed in trouble following allegation of sexual harassment by a tribal girl, today got relief from the Jharkhand High Court.
The high court granted no coercive action against him in the matter after senior advocate R.S.Majumdar assisted by his junior Rohan Majumdar argued in favour of Tiwary pleading innocence.
Tiwary had knocked the door of the high court after police arrested him following a complaint of a tribal girl from Khunti. The girl, who earlier used to work as a housemaid at Tiwary’s residence, knocked the door of Argora police station on August 16 saying Tiwary raped her and used abusive language for her caste.
The order came from the court of Justice Navneet Kumar.
Earlier on October 9 last year, the high court had granted bail to Tiwary in the case. The bail was granted 26 days after the arrest of Tiwary. While passing the order the court directed him to stay out of Jharkhand for the next six months and he will not change his mobile number.
The high court had said that during the six months he can visit Jharkhand only if he is asked by the police and the court. He was released on two sureties worth Rs 10000. The court in the order remarked that the way investigation and arresting were in speedy manner reflects government machinery was misused.
