Ranchi, Jan.24: The Jharkhand High Court sought a reply from the Jharkhand Public Service Commission while hearing a petition filed challenging the provision of reservation given in recently held seventh preliminary test for selection of civil servants for the state services.
The court asked the recruitment agency whether the reservation was given or not and if yes, what is the number of candidates from the reserve category who qualified PT and out of them how many of them occupied unreserved seats. Apart from this, the high court also asked the recruitment agency to give category-wise break-up for the PT qualified candidates.
A division bench of the high court comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujeet Narayan heard the petition.
Earlier, the petitioner’s advocate Amritansh Vats told the court that the reservation has been given in the seventh JPSC preliminary examination without mentioning the same in the advertisement published for recruitment. He argued how come the recruitment agency gives reservation in the PT when the state government had not made any such policy under which the benefit of reservation can be given in the preliminary examination.
There were 114 seats in the general category in the 7th JPSC exam. According to the rule, fifteen times the result should be issued and 1710 candidates should be selected in the general category. But only 768 general category candidates have been selected. Due to which it seems that the reservation has been given in the preliminary examination of JPSC.
