Ranchi, Oct 15: The Jharkhand High Court has directed the building construction department secretary to appear in person on October 17 to explain the reason behind the delay in the construction of court buildings.

A division bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S N Prasad gave the direction on Friday while hearing a PIL on the security of the court campus.

The court expressed its dissatisfaction over the security of the court campus and was not convinced with the reply on behalf of the state government saying the height of the boundary wall of many civil courts across the state has been increased and adequate security arrangements have been made for the security of civil courts.

Earlier, the court was also informed that as many as 1900 jawans are posted to protect the courts and judicial officers. The court was informed that the plan is afoot for the deputation of retired army personnel for the security of the court campus and a proposal has been sent for the deputation of Jharkhand Armed Police jawans.

Apart from this, CCTV cameras have been installed in Ranchi Civil Court and there is a plan to install CCTV cameras including the boundary wall of the courts.
