Ranchi, Nov 28: The Jharkhand High Court will hear an attempt to rape charge against Baghamara MLA Dhulu Mahto on December 12.
It was decided by the bench of Justice Sanjay Prasad while hearing an appeal against the lower court order filed by Mahto.
Mahto had filed the petition after the lower court dismissed his petition demanding discharge from the allegation of attempting to rape a female BJP leader.
The court while fixing the date of the detailed hearing in the matter called for a lower court record.
Dhanbad’s lower court had taken cognizance of the sexual harassment case against Mahto. On March 28, 2022, Mahto filed a discharge petition in court. The lower court dismissed the discharge petition on May 20, 2022, after which he challenged the dismissal order in the High Court.
The case arose after a female BJP leader registered an FIR (178/2019) at Katras police station alleging Mahto of attempting to rape her.
