Hazaribag, Nov 2: Health Secretary Arun Kumar Singh who visited Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) on Wednesday inspected the facilities at the hospital and passed several instructions to officials and doctors. Singh said SBMCH is better than medical colleges of Dumka, Palamau and Deoghar. He gave 75 marks to SBMCH out of 100 after seeing the available facilities here.
Singh said efforts on to strengthen the basic facilities at this hospital. He said a 500-bed hospital is under construction at the premises of the medical college. He informed of starting a nursing college also here. During this visit of Singh, Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay, deputy development commissioner Prerna Dikshit, hospital superintendent Vinod Kumar and civil surgeon AP Singh were also present.
Congress district president Awadhesh Kumar Singh told to Singh that around 200 doctors posted at this hospital but maximum not doing their duties honestly and giving their service to private nursing homes. Singh and other Congress leader Surjeet Nagwala said hospital management even failed in releasing duty roster of the doctors. They demanded strict action against such doctors.
SBMCH is in news always for all wrong reasons witnessing rampage due to death of patients with relatives charging doctors of not providing the required treatment. Even Hazaribag sadar MLA of BJP, Manish Jaiswal, is also up-in-arms against the management for poor health service at SBMCH. He also raised voice against the beautification drive taken up at this hospital to welcome health secretary.
