Jharkhand High Court extends stay on RMC’s right to approve building plans

Ranchi, Nov.7: The Jharkhand High Court stuck to its decision of seizing the rights of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) to approve building plans till further order.

The development took place in the court of Justice S Chandrasekhar and Justice Ratnakar Bhengra after the government counsel informed the court that it has constituted a committee to probe irregularities in approval of building plans.

The high court seized the rights of building plan approval by the civic body on December 1 taking suo moto cognizance in the matter of irregularities in approval of building plans. The court had taken cognizance on the basis of a media report informing that the municipal body charges Rs 20-30 per square feet besides the requisite fee of Rs 8 per square feet for approval of building plans.
