Ranchi, Sept.1: The Jharkhand High Court today ordered a CBI probe into the death of sub inspector Rupa Tirkey.
Hearing in the petition had started on June 17 this year.
The petition arose after Rupa was found hanging at Sahibganj on May 3 and the matter hogged the limelight with a suspicion that she was provoked to commit suicide by someone close to the chief minister.
Police arrested the batch mate of Rupa in this connection saying he provoked her for suicide but very few bought the logic of police.
Common perception remained that someone close to the chief minister was involved in the case and the government is trying to save him.
During the hearing of the case, a contempt petition was filed against advocate general (AG) Rajiv Ranjan and additional advocate general (AAG) Sachin Kumar following a dispute over the continuation of the hearing in the matter in the court of Justice S.K. Dwivedi.
Judgment in the matter is yet to come.
