Ranchi, Aug.4: The Jharkhand High Court today stayed the process of giving promotion to officials of all the departments of the state.

Justice S.N.Pathak passed the order after a petition challenging the order of director general of police (DGP) reached before him for consideration.

Petitioner Shrikant Dubey and others through the petition challenged the order of the DGP saying that the ASI will be promoted and the ST-SC cadre staff can also take advantage of promotion in the general category.  The order was given on June 23, 2022.

The court while staying the order asked the DGP and personnel department secretary to file an affidavit in the matter. The court deferred hearing into the matter till August 18.

It is noteworthy that in the year 2020, the government had issued a ban on promotion. After which in January 2022, the High Court ordered that the ban on promotion should be removed. The High Court had given this order in the WPS-1390/2021 case. Now the present order has again stopped the promotion process.
