Ranchi, Aug 4: The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) has begun the process of admissions through the Chancellor’s Portal in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Studies (GIS) PG Diploma. The University has also announced adding 10 more seats to the present number.
Interested students can apply for the same online till August 10. Notably, the course is a one-year PG Diploma course, which is divided into two semesters. The annual fee of the course is Rs 22 thousand for general category students and Rs 21 thousand for ST, SC, and BC I students.
Students are required to have a graduation degree in any discipline and basic knowledge of computers. Online applications can be filed through the website of DSPMU.
Under this course, students are given detailed information about Remote Sensing, GIS and GPS. After doing this course, students may specialize in various fields. These include Agriculture and Soil, Forest Resources and Ecosystem Analysis, Geoscience, Environmental, Sustainable Development and Management, Natural Hazard and Disaster Risk Management, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Urban-Regional Studies and Planner, Water Resources, Database Managers, Land Surveyors, Mining Sector, etc.
While explaining this, course coordinator Dr Abhay Kumar said, “GIS and Remote Sensing is helpful in preparing to become DPRs of all departments. Also, the Rural-Urban Development Department works in the mining sector, forest department, private company, space application centre, smart city planning, mobile application, disaster management, watershed management etc. Along with this, it is also helpful in the field of research.”
