Ranchi, June 20: The Jharkhand High Court today took strong exception to the working style of Chief Engineer of Rural Development Department, Birendra Ram, and termed him a misfit for the job.
The situation came during hearing of a petition filed for retirement benefit of retired rural development staff Umesh Prasad Sinha. Ram was also present during the hearing in accordance with the direction of the high court given on the previous date.
On a previous date the court had imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 and directed him to appear in the court in person.
As Ram appearing in person requested the court through his lawyer to waive his fine, the court denied the request and verbally observed in anger that Ram is not fit for the job. Apart from this, the court also verbally asked him why he should not be sent to jail.
The court after hearing the matter ordered Ram to pay the pending pension of the petitioner at the earliest and with 6 percent interest on the outstanding amount.
The case arose after Sinha, who has retired from the job on 30.11.2016, remained deprived of his post retiral benefits on the ground of non-issuance of last pay certificate. He has approached the court. The court took serious note to it.
