Ranchi: Heat conditions have intensified across Jharkhand as temperatures continue to rise. The Meteorological Department has warned of a possible heatwave in several districts, while rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected in some regions on April 16 and 17.
Temperature Rising Across State
During the last 24 hours, weather remained dry across Jharkhand. Daltonganj recorded the highest maximum temperature at 42.6°C, while Gumla saw the lowest minimum temperature at 19.1°C. Ranchi registered a maximum of 37.8°C.
Other major temperatures included Jamshedpur at 40.2°C, Chaibasa at 40.3°C, Seraikela at 40.9°C, Pakur at 39.2°C, Bokaro at 38.2°C, and Lohardaga at 37.2°C. Officials said temperatures may rise by another 2 to 3 degrees over the next three days.
Rain and Thunderstorm Warning
The department said north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the state may receive light rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds on April 16 and 17. There is also a risk of lightning during this period.
In Ranchi and nearby areas, partly cloudy skies and thunder activity are expected. Temperatures in the capital may cross 38°C in the coming days.
Heatwave Alert for Several Districts
A heatwave warning has been issued for north-western districts such as Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, and Latehar on April 19 and 20. On April 20, the impact may extend to south-eastern regions as well.
The weather department has advised residents to stay cautious, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and take preventive measures against heat-related illnesses. Most parts of the state are expected to witness clear and dry weather from April 18 to 22.
