Ranchi, Dec 6: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has sent applications to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to get CBSE affiliation for 56 state schools, after affiliation was provided to 24 state schools earlier.
Notably, one girls’ school, one Kasturba Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya (KGBV) and one district school have been included in every district in 80 government schools that are to be made model schools. After getting recognition, education will start on the lines of CBSE in 80 model schools from the next academic session. The schools will have classes from classes 1 to 12 in both Hindi and English medium. As per future plans, after two years of getting affiliation, the schools will completely switch to English medium. ICT labs including bench-desk, tables, library, and laboratory among other facilities are being set up in model schools to fulfil all CBSE requirements.
The process of hiring teachers has also been started for the said model schools. The teachers of government schools who were already working in CBSE schools or who have English backgrounds will be given priority during teacher appointments. If needed, teachers will be appointed in schools on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalaya.
The state government has decided to give special training to the teachers of the 80 model schools to be built. Firstly, 10 month-training will be given to the principals of 80 schools. After that, the emphasis will be on the training of teachers. In the training, special attention will be given to subjects like English, Science, Mathematics, Social Science and Hindi. The Azim Premji Foundation will also cooperate with this training work to be organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy.
Model schools being built in districts include 2 in Bokaro, 2 in Chatra, 2 in Deoghar, 5 in Dhanbad, 2 in Dumka, 3 in Garhwa, 9 in Giridih, 2 in Godda, 2 in Gumla, Hazaribagh 4 in Jamtara, 2 in Khunti, 3 in Koderma, 2 in Latehar, 1 in Lohardaga, 2 in Pakur, 4 in Palamu, 2 in West Singhbhum, 9 in East Singhbhum, 1 in Ramgarh, 1 in Ranchi, 10 in Sahebganj 3 in, 5 in Seraikela and Kharsawan, and 1 in Simdega district.
Notably, a total of 80 model schools are being set up in the state, all of which are hoped to have CBSE affiliation. Of these, 24 schools, one in each district has already received approval for CBSE affiliation from the board. The JEPC has now sent proposals for the remaining 56. The remaining will now be inspected by CBSE officials. According to sources, the team of officials is set to visit Jharkhand next month, which has prompted JEPC to begin preparations.
