Ranchi, Sept 15: The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) is set to soon invite applications for a total of 25,996 posts of assistant teachers in primary and high schools of the state. The state education minister, Jagarnath Mahato, gave his approval for sending the recommendation of appointment to the JSSC in this regard.
The state government recently created about 50,000 posts of assistant teachers under a new cadre. Out of these, the School Education and Literacy Department has decided to appoint 25,996 posts in the first phase. Candidates who have passed Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) in the past will be able to participate in the competitive examination to be conducted for this appointment. Remaining posts are to be filled in the next phase, after a JTET exam.
This means that those candidates who have completed the teacher training course after the year 2016 will not get the opportunity in the first phase of appointment, because the teacher eligibility test has not yet been conducted after the year 2016.
Talking in this regard, School Education and Literacy Department Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sharma said, “The government has decided that initially, we will appoint around 26,000 teachers now. Then we plan to conduct JTET, after which under the next phase, another 24,000 teachers will be appointed.”
“Soon after the appointments in the first phase is complete, we will begin preparations for JTET,” said the secretary when asked of the dates decided for JTET, stating that the dates have not yet been finalised.
The teachers who will be appointed in primary and higher schools include the posts of Intermediate Trained Assistant Professor and Graduate Trained Assistant Professor respectively. The pay scale of both will be Rs 25,500 and Rs 28,200 (along with other allowances) respectively.
