Chatra, Aug 10: A video which went viral on Wednesday landed Satyanand Bhogta, who is the state’s labour minister and also Chatra MLA, in trouble. The minister was seen in 33 seconds video watching obscene dance moves after inaugurating the new building of a government school on Tuesday. The village where this school is situated is Auru Gerua of Huntergunj block. When the 33 seconds video went viral, parents and villagers started criticising the minister and the school authorities. Students said even in their presence, dance performances took place which made them sit quietly looking down all the time.
Sources said after the inauguration of the new building of +2 Utkramit High School, the programme took place on the terrace of the school. They said Bhokta first joined the puja before inaugurating the new building.
What shocked the parents was that District Education Officer (DEO) Dinesh Kumar Mishra, Block Development Officer (BDO) Abhishek Pandey, Circle Officer (CO) Julfikar Ansari, Huntergunj police station officer-in-charge Sanoj Kumar Chaudhary, as well as many local representatives, including women, parents, villagers and students, were present.
During the dance, an assistant teacher was seen singing. When the minister and officials kept sitting and watching the dance, they came under the attack of rivals as well as local people who said this was not acceptable from a man who is a well-known politician and holding a constitutional post.
Getting information about this dance, Education Secretary K Ravi Kumar had show caused the District Education Officer.
DEO Mishra said he was not having information as to what programme would take place there. “I have sought an explanation from the principal Kishore Kumar Sinha,” he said.
Bhokta played safe and said students had also performed in this program. “Some people are making the video viral. This issue is being blown out of proportion,” he said. “I am monitoring schools of my constituency ensuring fulfilment of all requirements,” he added. Bhokta said the fact is that dance started all of a sudden and he was not having information about it. “Such dance is a local culture of the area and even youth was also local. Such dance takes place in villages frequently,” he added.
But those present in the programme are not convinced by the minister and officials. If they were not happy with the programme then why didn’t they leave the school or asked the principal to stop the dance immediately, a villager asked.
Jharkhand BJP state president Babulal Marandi also expressed concern on the issue and took to Twitter and criticized the minister.
