Chatra, April.4:  The relatives of the Maoists killed in an encounter in Chatra district on Monday have leveled a big allegation against the police on Tuesday.

The family claimed that the encounter was fake and a police team had caught and shot all the five supreme commanders of the Maoists.

DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, however, said that there is no merit in the family’s allegation.  He said if there is any proof then bring it forward.

Relatives said that these five Maoists wanted to surrender and had been trying for a long time. For this, the police also used to come to their house often, they added. All had reached the Chatra area with the intention of surrendering but were killed by police to present this as a big achievement, they added.

Slain SAC member Gautam Paswan’s son Chandan Paswan said that police have killed his father in a fake encounter. “I will go to the Human Rights Commission regarding this matter,” he added.

“The police don’t want us to live well. I am thinking of becoming a Maoist. The police also want the same,” he added.

“This is not an encounter. Police caught and shot. My father was about to surrender. He wanted to get in touch with the police,” he added.

Gautam’s wife said her husband was caught, tied and then shot into his head.  Daughter Priyanka said they will fight this case in all appropriate forums.

Gautam Paswan’s brother Girija Paswan said that his brother had approached the police to surrender.

“He was shot after surrendering. The administration told us that he wanted to surrender and this was the reason why Gautam came to Chatra. This should be investigated,” he demanded.

“We want justice,” said Santosh Yadav, son-in-law of sub-zonal commander Ajay Yadav alias Nandu. He said that the encounter was fake. “Had there been an encounter, there would have been firing from both the sides. He has been shot after surrendering. He was at home since 2000, but the police used to harass him. Troubled by the police, he became a Naxalite again, he added.

DGP Ajay Kumar Singh who was in Chatra today said that what happened is in front of everyone. The proof is also in front. There is no merit in the family’s allegation. Appealing to the Naxalites, he said that the surrender policy of the Jharkhand government is good. Maoists should return to the mainstream, he added.
