Ranchi, Dec 8: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) suspects that Sahibganj DSP Rajendra Dubey was acting on the instruction of Pankaj Mishra to allegedly settle scores against his rivals through the district police.
Pankaj Mishra while in judicial custody used to make phone calls to the DSP from RIMS. It has reliably been learnt that he gave directions to the DSP to identify and act against such persons who recorded their statements against him before the ED in the illegal stone mining scam.
Rajendra Dubey is among the officials of Sahibganj district administration who used to receive instructions from Pankaj Mishra over the phone while later was lodged at RIMS paying ward under judicial custody. Pankaj Mishra is the MLA representative of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the ED arrested and charge-sheeted him as a key accused of the Rs. 1000 Crore illegal stone mining scam.
Recently Sahibganj police jailed Prakash Chandra Yadav alias Mungeri Yadav and Ashok Yadav under provisions of the Crime Control Act (CCA). Mungeri Yadav’s son Ankush Yadav is a witness of the ED against Pankaj Mishra. Similarly, Ashok Yadav is a witness of the ED. It is said that as the DSP of Sahibganj, Rajendra Dubey forward the ded proposal to book them under provisions of CCA. Sources said that the agency has credible information that the DSP took such actions on the instruction of Pankaj Mishra. ED strongly doubts Rajendra Dubey must be involved in the scuttling probe against Pankaj Mishra in the Vijay Hansda case also.
The ED had summoned Rajendra Dubey for questioning to know his connection with Pankaj Mishra. Nevertheless, Rajendra Dubey who was scheduled to appear on today (December 8) did not turn-up before the zonal office of the ED in Ranchi. When contacted Rajendra Dubey refused to speak about summon, reasons for non-appearance and whether he has requested the ED additional time.
Notably, the ED earlier had told the special PMLA court that Pankaj Mishra during their continued stay at RIMS since 27th July, made and received a total of 300 phone calls to various persons including certain highly placed and influential people. In October the ED nabbed his two associates Chandan Yadav and Suraj Pandit for allegedly providing him their mobile phones to Pankaj Mishra and he used to talk to different people. Recently, the ED questioned Chandan Yadav and Suraj Pandit.
