Ranchi, May 12: Jharkhand Mining Secretary Pooja Singhal was suspended today after the Enforcement Directorate informed the Jharkhand government that the agency has arrested the IAS officer in the money laundering case.

The personnel department issued a notification in this regard.

Sources in the agency said that as per the rule the department of personnel and administrative reform of the Jharkhand government was informed since she is a Jharkhand cadre IAS.  The communication was sent to the government on Wednesday night after the special PMLA Court granted the ED five days’ police remand to question Pooja Singhal regarding her alleged involvement in the MANREGA scam in Khunti district.

Acting upon the communication of the ED,  the department of personnel and administrative reform has recommended her suspension to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who okayed her suspension.

Notably, Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday said that the government would order an inquiry into how she was given a clean chit in 2017  in a department enquiry conducted by IAS Amrendra Pratap Singh.
