Chatra, March 25: Jharkhand police in Chatra arrested an extremist associated with the Tritiya Prastuti Committee with a cache of arms and ammunition. He was identified as Rohit working in the capacity of the area commander.
The breakthrough came after officials of the Kunda police station swung into action getting direction from the district police superintendent Rakesh Ranjan who got a tip-off in this connection from his sources. Police are now interrogating the extremist to get more clues from him regarding extremist activities in the area.
Fire weapons recovered from the possession of the extremist included two carbines and explosives. It is said that the extremist was roaming in the area to target his prey. However, it is yet to be ascertained who his prey was.
Extremism is a perennial problem of the state. Despite several operations and arrests, they continue to exist in the state collecting levy from businessmen, industrialists, coal transporters and others.
