Ranchi, Sept.6: A jawan of Jharkhand Police Prem Nath Yadav was running a kidnapping gang.

The fact came to the fore after the recovery of the skeletons of the businessman of Bihar,  Mithilesh Prasad, and his driver from Pundaga under Ramkanda police station area of Garhwa district after three months of their abduction from Palamu.

The kidnapping gang comprises the brother of the jawan besides others. On May 25, it was Prem Nath who had abducted the businessman along with his driver Shravan Prajapati from Kandal valley under Nawa Bazar police station area of Palamu district in Jharkhand.

Prem Nath is posted at Deoghar district. Apart from him, the prominent members of the gang include Nath’s cousin Ajay Yadav and Amresh Yadav besides Safique Ansari and Omprakash Chandrvanshi. Police have arrested them. Four rifles with 80 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession.

A police official said they had killed a businessman and his driver six days after the abduction. The abduction was done from Nawa Bazar when the businessman was returning to Aurangabad from Chhattisgarh.

“Recovery of bodies could be possible after the accused were arrested. They had buried the body of the businessman after putting urea and salt for fast decomposition and threw the body of the driver in a cave,” the police official said.

Former chief minister Babulal Marandi had earlier informed about the abduction to the governor, who had sought a report on this from the DGP.
