Jamshedpur, July 22: Taking a cue from UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Jharkhand police have also started razing the houses of criminals, the first example of such action being seen under the Manjhari thana area in West Singhbhum district on Saturday.
A team of police officers led by sub-inspector Pawan Kumar razed a tile-thatched house of a criminal at Iligada village in Tantnagar under Manjhari thana about, 160 kms away from here today.
The house belonged to notorious criminal Shiv Shankar Jinko alias Padeya who is wanted in more than one-and-half dozen cases pending against him in West Singhbhum and the neighbouring Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.
According to the police, Padeya who would run an inter-state gang of criminals has been absconding since February 2022 in connection with a case of loot registered with the Manjhari thana.
Padeya along with two of his associates, Harish Gope and Nitesh Chatwa, had on February 2022 looted Rs 1.52 lakhs from an agent of a private finance company in Tantnagar thana outpost area.
The police had succeeded to arrest Harish Gope and Nitesh Chatwa, but Padeya had absconded and left his house with family.
The police first took necessary legal steps for making the absconder to surrender, but nothing positive occurred they razed Padeya’s house by pressing an excavator.
