Ranchi, Jan.31: Former Jharkhand state presidents of the Congress party, Sukhdev Bhagat and Pradeep Balmuchu, who had joined respectively BJP and Ajsu Party to contest 2020 assembly election, returned to their original party.

The development took place in the afternoon at Congress Bhawan in the Jharkhand capital when Jharkhand in-charge of AICC Avinash Pande welcomed then back and expected them to take the party to new heights by their efforts and experience.

Rejoining the Congress party Bhagat said the Congress is in his DNA and he wants to die a Congress man. Balmuchu said he had committed blunder by leaving the Congress and realized the mistake after remaining away from the party. He said he will not repeat the mistake again.

It is being taken as a big development in the state after the resignation of R.P.N.Singh and Geeta Shree Oraon from Congress party.

Balmuchu had joined the Ajsu party after the Congress denied to make him a party candidate from Ghatshila constituency and Bhagat had left the party after having difference of opinion with Singh. Both of them contested elections but were defeated.

“Their return will be a message to the NDA camp that if UPA’s one leader associated with Jharkhand can shift loyalty two leaders of Jharkhand can also shift loyalty. It will also be used to indicate that change of loyalty does not guarantee victory in an election,” a party insider said.

Those remained present during their return in party included AICC deputy in-charge of Jharkhand, Umang Singhar, state rural development minister Alamgir Alam, finance minister Rameshwar Oraon, state president Rajesh Thakhur, senior party leader Dr Ajoy Kumar and former union  minister Subodh Kant Sahay besides MLA Furkan Ansari and senior party leader Dadai Dubey.
