Ranchi, Sept 22: “Grameeno Ki Aas, MGNREGA Se Vikas” campaign was launched by the Rural Development Department today. In the programme, the officers who did better work during Covid-19 were honored by the department.
Addressing the programme, Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam said that the main objective of the work of the department is to improve the quality of life of the people living in rural areas. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Rural Development Department is working keeping in mind the people of all religions, villages, poor, farmers, and youth of the state. Employment generation among the needy people is the priority of the government. We are working with commitment for economic improvement and social change in the lives of people living in rural areas,” he said.

Minister Alam added that in this time of global pandemic corona infection, people are being connected with various schemes run by the department. “The increased participation of people in MGNREGA schemes is making us more energetic to work. Since the initial days of the formation of the present government, special emphasis has been given to the MGNREGA scheme including agriculture, farmers, small and cottage industries, education, health sectors with positive thinking. At the same time, there is also a need for continuous monitoring of the schemes and works run by the department,” he said.
Minister Alamgir Alam further added that the “Grameeno Ki Aas, MGNREGA Se Vikas” campaign will run from September 22 to December 15 2021 in the identified 150 blocks of the state.
“I not only hope but have full faith that this campaign will be successful in making the people living in rural areas self-supporting and financially empowered. The state government has made all these migrant laborers return home safely through airlift, rail, bus and other means. Now, these labourers are being given work under MGNREGA in the village itself by connecting them with Birsa Green Village Scheme, Nilambar-Pitamber Jal Samridhi Yojana, Veer Shaheed Poto Ho Khel Yojana,” Minister Alam said.
On this occasion, Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Dr. Manish Ranjan highlighted the outline of the campaign “Grameeno Ki Aas, MGNREGA Se Vikas”. The department has set a target of increasing the criteria of MGNREGA works by another 10% by December 15, 2021. Unfinished plans have to be completed. Connecting people with employment by creating more and more working days under MGNREGA will also be the main objective of this campaign. He stressed ensuring the quality of watershed schemes at all costs.
The Deputy Development Commissioners who arrived from different districts of the state, Block Development Officers of various blocks, senior and junior officers of MGNREGA and other people were present in the programme.
