Ranchi, Jan 4: Keeping in mind the lowering temperatures and cold wave in the state, the School Education and Literacy Department secretary K Ravikumar has ordered that all government and private schools shut classes for students of Class I to V till January 8.

The School Education and Literacy Department issued an order regarding this late on Tuesday. In the issued order, it has been said that there be no academic work in schools for classes I to V. Depending on the weather, further decisions will be taken after January 8.

Meanwhile, the order only mentions leaving for students. In the case of government schools, it is being said that during this period teachers will have to come to school and do other paperwork including online data entry. Mid-day meals will be served during this leave as well. Earlier on Tuesday, the order had been issued for only government schools but was later changed.

Soon, the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi district ordered to stop the academic work till January 8 in all government / non-government schools (including minority) / private primary schools of Ranchi district till January 8. After this, the classes will be conducted normally from January 9, unless a further decision is taken.
