Dhanbad, May 26: ‘Dastar Bandi’ of Jharkhand Sikh boys would be held at Takht Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib on May 28 (Sunday).
An official of Takht Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Saheb said that ‘Third Koumi Dastarbandi Samagam’ is being organized on Sunday in which Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib Amritsar ( Punjab) Singh Sahib Harprit Singh Ji would grace the occasion and perform the Dastarbandi of interested Sikh boys.
Dastar Bandi is considered a very important and sacred event in the life of a Sikh boy when he starts tying the turban. Dastar Bandi of a Sikh is done when he becomes 11 to 16 years old. This ceremony is performed at a Gurudwara before Guru Granth Sahib after Ardas.
Since Takht Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib is considered the second most religious place for Sikhs in the world after Akaltakht, the holding of Third Koumi Dastar Bandi Samagam here is being considered a golden opportunity for Sikh boys to be Dastar BAandi by Jathedar Singh Sahib Harprit Singh.
In this regard, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Patna Sahib has invited all Sikh Sangat of Jharkhand including Dhanbad Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee president Sardar Sewa Singh, Sardar Gurmeet Singh, president Ranchi Gurudwara, Sardar Avtar Singh, president Hazaribagh Gurudwara, Sardar Pramdeep Singh Kalra, president Ramgarh Gurudwara and Jamshedpur Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee to send interested boys from their respective districts for Dastarbandi.
Dhanbad Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee president Sardar Sewa Singh when contacted on Friday admitted to having received the invitation from Takht Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib general secretary Sardar Indrajeet Singh. Singh has also informed that proper arrangement has been made for Sikh boys of Jharkhand at Patna Sahib.
“It is a golden opportunity for the Sikh boys of Jharkhand as Jathedar Harprit Singh Ji himself performs Dastarbandi of boys. So, we request all to go there on Sunday in large numbers to avail this pious occasion,” said Sardar Sewa Singh.
