Dhanbad, April 28: Two-day 8th Jharkhand state inter-district Thang-Ta martial art championship will begin here from Hirapur Agrasen Bhawan from tomorrow (April 29-30).
Giving this information, Jharkhand State Thang-Ta Association president Ranjit Kesri said that over 200 martial arts (Thang-Ta) players of 11 districts including Ranchi, Lohardagga, Hazaribag, Palamu, Koderma, Bokaro, Garhwa, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum) are participating in the championship.
Since Thang-Ta, which is an indigenous martial art game, is an important event of the Khelo India Games, this state championship has become important for players to get a place in the Jharkhand team for the nationals.
“ The championship will kick start at 10 am on Saturday ( April 29). Since some districts of the state are participating first time in this state championship a workshop would be organized for them from 10 am to 1 pm ( three hours) to make them aware of the rules and regulations of the game,” said Ranjit Kesri president of the state association.
Besides it, a training programme would also be held in the evening. Senior trainers of Jharkhand Shrawan Sahu of Lohardaga, Vineet Kumar Yadav of Ranchi, Uday Kumar of Hazaribag, Sona Moti Kumari of Palamu, Sarib Khan of Garhwa, Sanju Kumar of Bokaro, Shankar Ram of Koderma, Uday Shankar Bharti of Dumka and Sunil Prasad of Jamshedpur would impart the training.
The organizers said, on the first day junior events would be held from 2 pm while on the second day ( Sunday) senior groups would be seen in action from 10 am.
Host Dhanbad Thang-Ta Association secretary Krishna Sab has declared 38 members district team for the championship.
