Ranchi, Sept.27: Students of the government schools in Jharkhand are yet to get six eggs in their meal every week under the Mid Day Meal (MDM) Programme, as announced by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Ghanshayam Ojha, Principal of Rajya Hindi Madhya Vidhyalay, Paharitola, said that they have not received any notice from the government regarding mid-day meals or the addition of eggs in the meal as of yet. “Generally we used to provide eggs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If we get the new direction, we will surely follow it,” he added.
Kamla Singh, DSE, Ranchi, on the inclusion of more eggs in the midday meal of the students said, “We have not received any communication from the government regarding the new meal of the students”.
Incidentally, when looking into the city’s government schools, it was discovered that the MDM programme has not yet begun after the reopening of schools. The school administrations are awaiting instructions on when to restart the programme. They reported that raw materials such as rice, wheat, lentils, salt, and oil were brought to the students’ homes during the lockdown.
“We had delivered the raw food materials to the students during the lockdown. As the school has reopened, we are following all the norms of Covid -19. We are providing masks to the students who don’t carry them; safe drinking water is also available here with disposable glasses,” said Ghanshyam Ojha.
The DSE Ranchi, on restarting the MDM programme has said that they have not received any direction from the government. As soon as they obtain funding from the Treasury, the programme will resume, he added.
