Dhanbad, Oct 14: Dr Swapan Kumar, principal of Dumarthar Middle School Dumka was felicitated with the ‘Shiksha Ratna award’ at the three-day Rashtriya Shikshak Samman Samaroh 2022 organized by Nawachari Gatividhi Samuh Chhattisgarh.
Barun Kumar Roy of Giridih school also won the award for his efforts in the education sector.
Dr Swapan Kumar of Dumka was given the award for his efforts in making up for the learning gap of students caused by Covid-19 and carrying out a special campaign in remote villages for students. While addressing the webinar, Dr Swapan shed light on the challenge that appears in imparting education in remote areas.
Dr Swapan shot into the limelight in 2020-21 by continuing to impart education to tribal students on the village streets by turning house walls into blackboards when all the schools and colleges across the country were closed due to the pandemic. He got national and international awards for this unique innovation of imparting education while maintaining social distancing.
Dumka Middle School teacher Dr Swapan also put up ambitious suggestions for the importance and requirement of increasing ‘Navachar Gatividhi.’
In the three-day event, Chhattisgarh principal secretary of education Alok Kumar Shukla, deputy secretary Dr M Sudish, Pramod Kumar Sinha of Jharkhand, Dhruv Prasad of Delhi, Akash Sashwat of Uttrakhand, Navachar Gatividhi Samuh chief Sanjiv Kumar Suryavanshi, programme coordinator Manjula Jha and Chandra Prakash Nayak also participated.
