Dhanbad Sept. 3: Jharkhand boys and girls teams for the under-8 national chess championship scheduled to start from September 11 were announced on Friday. The championship would be held online.
Players who have been selected to represent Jharkhand in the national championship are Ayush Dey, Mayan Jha of East  Singhbum ( for the boys’ team), and Adya Agrawal of  East Singhbhum and Praranvi Singh of Saraikela-Kharsawan district ( for girls team).
Jharkhand State Chess Association (JSCA) general secretary Neeraj Kumar Mishra announcing the teams said that players were selected on basis of their performance in the state chess championship organized by East Singhbhum District Chess Association at Jamshedpur from August 31 to September 1.
“Total  21  players of different districts of the state had participated in two days’ tournament. The tournament was organized through online Ternelo software and zoom application,” said Neeraj Kumar Mishra. The national championship too would be played through the same device.
National arbiter and tournament director  Jayant Kumar Bhuiyan said that in wake of the Corona pandemic FIDE ( international chess body) has developed a new software ‘Ternelo’  for conducting online chess championships.
“An online championship player can use a desktop or laptop but not mobile. Three cameras would monitor the players under the observation of arbiter,” said Bhuiyan.
Besides general secretary  Neeraj Kumar Mishra and tournament director Jayant Kumar Bhuiyan, the championship was organized under the supervision of East Singhbhum secretary NK Tiwari, joint secretary Ajay Kumar, chief arbiter Vishal  Kumar Minz, national arbiter Chandan Kumar Prasad, S Pramanik, and Priyanka   Kumari.
