Ranchi: Caste, income, residence and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificates will now also be issued offline in Jharkhand, with the Personnel Department issuing an order to this effect on August 27, copies of which have been sent to district deputy commissioners across the state.

New System to Remain in Effect for Three Months

According to the order, these certificates will now be issued both online and offline, with the new arrangement set to remain in place for the next three months.

Decision Follows Requests Over Rising Application Numbers

The decision came after several district deputy commissioners informed the state government that the number of applications for caste, income, residence and EWS certificates had risen significantly, prompting them to request permission to issue certificates offline. Following this, the government decided to allow offline issuance of the certificates.

Rising Applications Overwhelmed Circle and SDO Offices

Certificates are issued through circle offices and SDO offices, where the number of applications had increased substantially, causing difficulties for applicants seeking to obtain their documents.

Similar Provision Was Made in 2022

Notably, the government had issued a similar order on February 22, 2022, permitting offline issuance of caste certificates, which were later converted to online records.
