Jamshedpur, Jan 4: The winter vacation in all government, private, and aided schools have been extended till January 8 in compliance with a state education department circular which was issued on Tuesday night. The circular stated asked the schools to remain shut from Wednesday till Sunday due to increased winter chill.

According to the circular during the period from January 4 to 8, the government school teachers will attend school to enter data online to update all student records. An official of the East Singhbhum education department said such a decision has been taken for students of the primary section as the winter chill has intensified.

“On January 9, the schools will reopen and regular classes will resume, ” he said.

Moreover, confusion prevailed among parents and students as the education department circular reached them at night. Some schools like Rajendra Vidyalaya, Hill Top and Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya notified the holidays through the school WhatsApp group at night.

Many parents and students who were not aware of the circular went to the school this morning but had to return.

The Indian Metrological Department reports that the state’s weather has remained dry for the past 24 hours.

In many areas of the state, there was moderate to dense fog. According to the forecast issued by Ranchi Met Centre, the minimum temperature is expected to plummet in most parts of the state after the next 24 hours.
